One major wedge issue that the Republicans pulled in the 2004 election, a classic Rove tactic, was to place gay marriage amendments in statewide elections to drive voters to the polls. Tonight Sarah Palin essentially confirmed that McCain/Palin have exactly the same stance as Obama/Biden. Both parties want marriage to be between a man and a woman but they both support rights for gay couples.
